- Teaching career of 40 years. Teaching areas included Home Economics, Textiles and Clothing, Food Technology, Science and Health.
- Seconded to Auckland Secondary Teachers’ College as lecturer in Food and Nutrition and tutor in Teaching Practice. Twenty five years on, I am still meeting those 1982/1983 trainees still in the profession.
- Writing resource material. During 11 years as HOD at Lytton High School, Gisborne, I did an increasing amount of writing, mainly as a member of National working parties. The writing groups I participated in prepared materials for Achievement Based Assessment (ABA), new National Prescriptions and Unit Standards. The work in ABA then led to my facilitating innumerable courses on this assessment method, travelling from the far north down to the Nelson area.
- Vice President of HETANZ, 1989-1991. To assist teachers using ABA in their programmes, I compiled / wrote a HETANZ resource booklet, Assessment forms 1—7 (1990). Further support was given to teachers in my second HETANZ publication, Home Economics form 6 & 7 (1991).
- Senior Management Starting in 1995, the next 20 years of my teaching career were in Senior Management at Putaruru College. Although I taught in the foods room from time to time, most of my teaching tended to be in the Science area.
- Chief Examiner, School Certificate Home Economics. For 1995—1997 I had the contract of Chief Examiner and Chief Marker.
Since late 2015 I have been busy doing occasional day relief teaching, writing teaching resources
and pursuing my many and varied interests.
